چکیده
The World Health Organization recommends the use of traditional medicines, including herbs, to maintain public health and prevent treat diseases, especially chronic degenerative cancer. Traditional medicine has relatively fewer side effects than modern pharmaceutical medicine. There have been many studies that explore secondary metabolites in plants. Among them, several plant species found antidiabetic properties. One these plants is Jatropha curcas (Linn). Scientifically, it known exhibit antihyperglycemic antioxidant activity. Phytochemical screening shows leaves this contain alkaloids, steroids, triterpenoids, flavonoids, tannins, which are potentially antihyperglycemic, antioxidant, anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory agents.

Polyphenolic Contents and Antioxidant Potential of Stem Bark Extracts from Jatropha curcas (Linn)
We assessed the polyphenolic contents and antioxidant potential of the aqueous, ethanol and methanol stem bark extracts of Jatropha curcas. The total phenol, flavonoids, flavonols and proanthocyanidin contents of the extracts were evaluated to determine their effect on the antioxidant property of this plant, using standard phytochemical methods. The antioxidant and free radical scavenging activ...
متن کاملAnti termite activity of Jatropha curcas Linn. biochemicals
Jatropha curcas oil and its toxic fraction were evaluated at different dilutions i.e., 1%,5%,10%,20% against Microcerotermes beesoni, the test termite. The maximum wood protection against termites of both the treatments were obtained at their highest concentration i.e. 20%. The weight loss ranged from 18.77% to 48.80% at concentrations of 20% to 1% of Jatropha curcas oil formulation. The protec...
متن کاملAssessment of Antioxidant and Cytoprotective Potential of Jatropha (Jatropha curcas) Grown in Southern Italy
Jatropha (Jatropha curcas L.) is a plant native of Central and South America, but widely distributed in the wild or semi-cultivated areas in Africa, India, and South East Asia. Although studies are available in literature on the polyphenolic content and bioactivity of Jatropha curcas L., no information is currently available on plants grown in pedoclimatic and soil conditions different from the...
متن کاملAntibacterial and Antioxidant Properties of the Leaves and Stem Essential Oils of Jatropha gossypifolia L.
Antibacterial and antioxidant properties of the leaves and stem essential oils (EOs) of Jatropha gossypifolia and their efficacies against infectious and oxidative stress diseases were studied in vitro. The EOs obtained using Clevenger modified apparatus were characterized by high resolution GC-MS, while their antioxidant and antibacterial properties were examined by spectrophotometric and agar...
متن کاملPharmacognostic Studies on the Fruits of Jatropha Curcas Linn
Present paper deals with the pharmacognostic studies of the fruits of J. curcas Linn. The 75-80 cells thick pericarp is differentiated into epicarp, mesocarp and endocarp. Mesocarpic zone embeds non-articulated laticifers, tannin containing idioblasts and randomly distributed vascular bundles. Endocarp shows the occurrence of fibrous sclereids. Preliminary phytochemical screening of the drug po...
